The Law Enforcement Advocacy Program (LEAP) represents a working partnership with the Wichita Police Department and the YWCA. The primary objective of this program is to serve as a liaison between the police department and victims of domestic violence by providing support and advocacy services that assist victims with understanding case processes, planning for safety, accessing appropriate community resources, and increasing trust and satisfaction with law enforcement efforts.
The LEAP program is a community based advocacy program that focuses on contacting victims of domestic violence in cases where an arrest was made or pick-up order issued, but the victim did not appear for court.
YWCA staff also provides advocacy services to victims involved in the municipal court system.
