Give your skills and talents – we offer you a wide range of opportunities.

* Train to become a volunteer crisis counselor on our 24-hour hotline that provides a daily lifeline to victims of domestic violence, rape or child sexual abuse. Volunteer Crisis Counselors answer the crisis line, admit women and children into the shelter, assist in handling emergency situations and help the residents in a variety of ways. We provide 24 hours of training in the dynamics of domestic violence, crisis counseling and shelter policies and procedures prior to their first shift as a volunteer. Volunteer crisis counselors must be at least 18 years of age, extremely dependable, easily reached by phone, have reliable transportation, and be able to handle many tasks simultaneously. We require references and a security check. If you are interested, please complete the volunteer application and send it to YWCA P.O. Box 1740 Wichita, KS 67201. We will send you a list of training times when the next trainings session is scheduled, or you can arrange to train one-on-one with our advocates. For more information, call 263-2313.

* Volunteer at our thrift store, the Treasure Chest. The YWCA Treasure Chest volunteers have many roles! Cashier, sales clerk, stocking the sales floor, straightening up displays, checking the operation of appliances and toys, and so much more. Call Joyce at (316) 262-2900 to volunteer.
